Covid: entire Croatia in red on ECDC map

Only parts of Poland, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary in green

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, SEP 9 - The entire territory of Croatia turned red in the new map produced by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC), updated every Thursday, the Croatian news agency HINA reported today. Last week, only parts of central Croatia were red, while the capital Zagreb, the north of Croatia and the coastal areas were coloured in orange.

The red colour is used by the ECDC to define regions in the EU reporting a 14-day incidence rate of 75-200 with a 4-percent or higher positivity rate, or for areas with lower positivity rate but with the 14-day incidence rate at 200-500, HINA recalled.

Currently, the only green regions in Central and Eastern Europe are located in Poland, Czechia, Slovakia and Hungary. Croatia is observing a surge in infections and an increase in hospitalisations in the past weeks. (ANSA).
