(ANSA) - PRAGUE, SEP 8 - The general elections will take place on October 8 and 9 in the Czech Republic, and just like in the August polls conducted by renowned agencies Stem and Kantar, even in the recent survey by the Median institute, Prime Minister Andrej Babis's movement, Ano, has taken the lead with 27%. In second place comes the coalition of conservatives Spolu (Together) formed by Top 09, Civic Democrats (ODS) and Christian Democrats (KDU-CSL) with 21% and the coalition of liberals, Pirates, and the Movement of Mayors and Independents (Stan) with 20.5%. The extremists of Tomio Okamura's Freedom and Direct Democracy (SPD) are growing (9%), while the Communists (KSCM) and the Social Democrats (SSCD) are facing a decline, with 6% of the vote. Stem and Focus also found that more than 30 years after the Velvet Revolution that brought down communism in the country in 1989, one Czech out of four believes that the communist regime would be more acceptable than today's democratic one.
