(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 06 OTT - Students and businesses are in the spotlight today at the "Barcolana Sea Summit - Towards the States General of Sustainability in the North Adriatic and Central Europe." The meeting, underway since yesterday at the Trieste Convention Center, focuses on "sustainability and complexity" and is promoted as part of Barcolana 54. About 400 school children from Friuli Venezia Giulia are involved through the Barcolana Job project. Companies such as Coop Italia, Unicredit, and Trenitalia will be tasked with telling about the projects launched in favor of sustainability. Today's program also includes presenting the national results of the "Piccoli Gesti Grandi Crimini" (Small Gestures, Big Crimes) campaign carried out by Marevivo and BAT Italia over the summer to raise awareness of the need to properly dispose of cigarette butts and littering.

Also participating in the initiatives promoted by Barcolana are students from the Universities of Trieste, with a lesson on board Step Impianti Clean Sport One, and Udine, special "observers" of the Sea Summit, to analyze live the organization of an event.

This morning, elementary school pupils participated in the inauguration of the city trail that stems from the project with Siram Veolia, "The Sustainable City of the Future." Until November 25, their drawings will create an open-air exhibition along the city center streets to tell the story of "Sustainable Trieste," as seen through children's eyes. (ANSA).
