(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 25 - Some three out of four cases of
gender violence are committed by current or former partners of
the woman, ISTAT said in a survey of Italy's Anti-Violence
Centres in 2021.
Some 54.8% of cases involve the partner and a further 22.9%
involve the ex, said the report, issued on the International Day
for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
In 12.5% of cases it is another relative who commits the
violence, the report said, while only 9.8% of cases are
committed outside the family or relationship sphere.
Almost one in five of those committing the violence, 19.7%, has
some form of addiction including alcohol, drugs, gambling or
prescription drugs.
Almost one third, 29%, of offenders have been reported at least
once by their victims, with complaints against exes amounting to
34%. (ANSA).
