Storm alert moves south

In force in Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Sardinia and Sicily

(ANSA) - ROME, AUG 11 - An Italian storm alert has moved south after causing widespread flooding and damage in northern and central Italy this week.
A yellow bad-weather alert is in force Thursday in five southern regions: Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Sardinia and Sicily.
Violent downpours and intense lightning storms are expected, especially over inland and mountainous areas.
Cooler weather brought by the storms, which have broken the muggy 'afa' heat of midsummer, is prevailing in the rest of the country.
But a fresh heat wave is set to hit Italy starting Monday, forecasters say. (ANSA).
